Eric Clapton in general: ... Clapton really shouldn’t need any introduction from the likes of me. Starting off as guitarist in The Yarbirds before forming one of the first super groups ‘Cream’ before moving onto form Derek and the Dominoes where he wrote what is possibly his most famous song, ‘Layla’ (That’s the widdly one used in the Vauxhall TV adverts ooh, however long ago it was – trust me, you ...

Glasgow+Girl John Miles in general
... Anyone who claims never to have set eyes on this all-time ‘pop-hero, need look no further. Give a passing glance in the direction of Rutger Hauer, star of “Blade Runner” and one-time Guinness add front-man for a look-alike and body double too, if I’m not mistaken. John Miles continues to have the same fair haired good looks that he had back in the heady days of the seventies - even though, like yours truly, he is now in his fifties. Eric Clapton in general
... Layla is the greatest song that Eric Clapton has ever made. It really does show off his immense talent as a song writer (providing it was him that wrote it), and his musical talent. The guitar sounds arre just brilliant and I'd say that the song has the greatest guitar riff in any song; ever. Eric Clapton has written a lot of songs and was part of the group Cream of Eric Clapton. I think that he is one of the all time top 5 greatest guitarists. With such classics like 'Wonderful Tonight', 'Layla', 'My Father's eyes', 'Cocaine' and 'tears in heaven' all to his name, there are very few artists that can better him. Gre...

... sound is a sort of mix of Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty - guitar based (at times anthemic) rock. "The hard way" was released in 1990, and received excellent reviews but not a lot of commercial success. He wrote all the songs on the CD, and two of them were co-written with Maria McKee. And it all rings true. He's singing his own words, from the heart - and it sounds like he's really been there - a man on the road, looking for love, in prison, on the run? and he has. Drugs, women, prison - you wouldn't want to mess with Steve Earle. His voice is gruff - it really sounds like he's done some hard livin' and paid...
