Advantages: Excellent performance, lots of hits.

Disadvantages: Weather could have been better

I've just returned (yes it is VERY late at night/early morning!) from seeing Bon Jovi live at Milton Keynes Bowl (Saturday 16th June) having gone more or less on impulse after some persuasion from a dear friend.

To put you in the picture I haven't been out "properly" for the best part of two years due to illness/disability so this was quite a big leap for me! Out for nearly 12 hours solid (though admittedly a lot of that was travelling) and going on spec to sold out concert with no ticket ( I got one from a tout outside for a reasonable price)

Anyway, on to the important part - the performance from Bon Jovi. The last time I saw them live was in 1989 so it's been quite a while for me and I've missed countless tours in between but this was a pretty good consolation. They played tracks spanning most of their career including their latest singles from the "Crush" album and a rousing cover of the Beatles "Twist and Shout".

The set list included such Bon Jovi classics as "You Give Love a Bad name", "Wanted Dead or Alive", "It's my Life", "Living on a Prayer", "Bed of Roses", "Some Day I'll be Saturday Night", "One Wild Night", "In These Arms" and "Wild in the Streets". Lots of favourites!

The performance was near perfect, Jon Bon Jovi on fine, friendly chatty form with the audience of about 65,000 and the weather just about held out although it had been very wet so the site was somewhat muddy. There were a few fireworks on the closing numbers which added to the party atmosphere and all in all the band played for the best part of three hours though it felt much shorter as it was SOOO good! :o)

The support acts were "Delirious" and "Matchbox 20" though we missed both due to the long, traffic riddled journey and trekking around the site and Bon Jovi took to the sta
ge at about 8pm so there was no hanging around for hours.

I thoroughly enjoyed and if melodic rock is your cup of tea I heartily recommend seeing Bon Jovi live if you haven't already done so (or even if you have!) :o)
