Boybands rock, its official. Boyzone were drab and luvvy dovey but along came Backstreet Boys to funk it all up, FIve to flirt with the ladies and Blue to add the big 'Black' image.

Its simple really, boybands are successful because they have good voices (despite what many say) and damn sexy asses. You ever see a boyband be successful when the members all have a hunch back?

There is something causing their downfal though, and in my opinion that is the internet.

With songs now available to download via Napster (or one of its clones such as Limewire), people are not spending as long watching them on TV. With Radio also overtaking TV in the amount of time we spend on each, bands that depend largely on their image are losing popularity, you cant see them on the radio after all.

This has helped lead to a decrease in their populaity. Perhaps somewhat more controversially I am also arguing that internet porn is leading to their decline.

With porn so hard to gain access to in the past, boybands were considered really sexy and a great way to relieve your sexual fantasies. Now we have the internet though, and boybands seem tame compared to what you can get online. So, their sex appeal is little, their looks arent getting seen and their voices are not good enough to win them to the top alone. So overall, boybands are falling and I doubt they will come back.

Girlbands have something else going for them (despite having the same problems as the boybands) because women get behind them as a symbol of 'girl power'. Strong women inspire women to go and buy the singles, when did you last see a guy go and buy a boyzone song?
