In the fickle world of pop music it is rare for an artist to stay succesful for a decade but two decades is something of an acheivement especially for female singers. Britney Spears recent troubles are proof that its sometimes hard to hold yourself together once you have acheived your fame and fortune. I recently attended one of Kylie's concerts at the O2 Arena in London as part of her X tour. She was absolutely fantastic. She sings and dances amazingly and the whole show was breathtaking. There is something about her presence and her personality that just oozes charisma and charm. In my opinion, Kylie Minogue just keeps getting better. There has been an enormous amount of critisism aimed at Austrlian pop star Kylie Minogue over her 21 years in music. Where a small amount of the critisism might be true, much of it is lazy journalism from rags that dont bother to research the facts or actually find out about her music. After a successful battle with breast cancer, and her longest break from music, Kylie made a return to the stage late 2006 to complete her Showgirl tour. Well, I used to watch Kylie on Neighbours when she was better known as Charlene. I remember being at University when Charlene and Scott got married - we all crowded round the communal TV and sobbed into our vodkas, as our favourite couple headed for happiness. Now some twelve years later, Jason Donovan has dabbled in drugs, dressed up in stockings and suspenders - oh and he was in the Rocky Horror Show too ! <grin> As for Kylie, well, she is back at the top of the charts, where she belongs. Kylie Minogue has received loads of criticism and has deserved some of it but certainly not it all. She has been a true star coming from soap stardom into the world of music with some enormous hits and a really likeable style. I think now though maybe after her 21 years on our music scene it might just be time to pack up her microphones and her cute little ass and toddle off. She started out in the pop world with some of the cheesiest hits known to man but went on to release countless great tracks, well great to her real fans and just really good to the rest of us.
