Catherine Wheel are a British band who have been criminally underrated for almost two decades. They were originally a 'shoegaze' style band, and their early albums 'Ferment' (which contained the epic, classic single 'Black Metallic') and 'Chrome' were fine examples of this genre.

The band drastically changed their sound with the release of 'Happy Days'. Out went the droning, indie guitars, and in came a harder, edged rock side to the band. Singles such as 'Waydown' and 'Judy Staring At the Sun' saw them briefly flirt with success before disappearing again for a couple of years

Their next release, 'Adam and Eve' was obviously intended to be a breakthough album. More accessible this time around, the band smoothed down some of the rough, rockier edges and found a more mature sound, with acoustic songs mixing it up with mid pace rockers. The single 'Delicious' once again saw the band briefly gain some chart success, but once again this was short-lived.

The bands last album, 'Wishville' was poorly received by both critics and fans, and they havent recorded anything since 2001. A sad end to the career of a very promising band
