We all love music and a good show. A concert maybe, an extravaganza. Mnay musicians push the boundaries, though, beyond the realms of good taste. Is this acceptable? I think not. Many advocate freedom of expression, whatever the expression. How can that be right?

That means, whatever I choose to say, I have a right to say it, even if it's obscene to the level of inducing nausea. If I want to sing about murder and rape, that's ok, too. Popping pills, suicide, violence, what the heck, throw it all in. Call it freedom of expression.

Thing is, what comes out of the mouth, is what comes out of the heart and mind. Is it any coincidence that we see burgeoning violence and depraved crime, and depraved musical acts? The entertainment world is full to the brim with violent and sexually perverted images. The television and music world is rife with this sort of offering. Why do people enjoy watching this sort of stuff? Do they not find it distasteful?

How about when some pervert who feeds on this stuff decides to harm a member of your family? It all becomes frighteningly obvious that censorship is vital to maintain some level of morality in society.

I'd love to see the filth and degredation spewing from the mouths of these musical acts censored. These 'artists' of depravity have nothing to offer in the way of clean entertainment. The fact that these, once shockingly unacceptable people, should now find huge audiences the world over, is testament to the morally sick condition of the world population.

Out of order? Want to censor me? Can't. You have to listen to me. I have freedom of expression, just like everyone else.

Hypocrisy reigns. Millions want to listen to this obscenity, but, when a nutter comes along who takes the music too seriously, and threatens or takes the life of a member of the family, then 'why did this happen? God's to blame! Why can't something be done about these cr
iminals?'.

We can't have it both ways. The criminals out there, the perverts and paedophiles have more than enough material to feed on. They no doubt feed on the sort of stuff that is in question here.

But, censorship to the dgree that is required, will never materialise. Only half-hearted attempts are and will continue to be made. The problem has got too bad now. Even on dooyoo, we can see that it is unpopular to suggest curbing the tastes of the masses.

We have been desensitised to the extent that anything goes............except when it hurts me personally...or my family. Everyone else can go boil their heads. With such an attitude, things can only get worse.

Freedom, what a wonderful thing. But, by giving too much freedom to certain elements of society, we end up enslaved again. Fearful of being hurt by the animalistic and degraded amongst us.
Governments can't do anything satisfactory to solve the problem. They have a tiger by the tail. They daren't let go, and they can't control it either.

A society that values high standards of morality and decency would be the ideal. Just think back to your grandparent's day. Standards were higher, so was the happiness level.

Only supernatural intervention will cure these problems, and restore sanity to this insane world.

I actually found your last comment very interesting, yes it would be nice if we lived in this wonderful world, but we dont and I dont think we ever will.

It also begs the questions, who's morals and qualities would we wish to live by? One mans morals are another mans immorals, this then opens up another huge discussion.

Thanks for your comments. Of course, you can't censor everything unpleasant, like the mention of rape and violence, or turn society into a nanny state, where our thinking is done for us. The ideal, is for people to aspire to the good and morally clean qualities that make our lives more meaningful and satisfying. That would go for the music we make and listen to, and our entertainment. Our personal lives, too. When we push the moral boundaries too far, hasn't history shown repeatedly, then humans suffer. Dissatisfaction, unhappiness, bad conscience, etc. Why on earth, should we want to listen to depravity in music? That is a question that should be asked first and foremost.

A U from me, too, as there is only one side of the argument dealt with, however passionately.
