Advantages: nice voice

Disadvantages: how long for ???

I am a great lover of opera and most vocal works. I love to hear a cathedral choir, and listening to Pie Jesu or Ave Maria sends shivers down my spine.


But.......Charlotte Church simply sends me cold. Her voice is pleasant, dont get me wrong, and if I was her mum I would be as proud as punch. You wouldnt have to go further than the nearest cathedral choir, however, to match or better it.


She has been handed over like a lamb to the slaughter to the impresarios who will not care one jot in a few years when shes a distant memory.

I have admiration for her parents who are trying to keep her feet on the ground, and for the moment she seems to be coping with her new found fame and millionaire status.

How will she feel however when her moment of glory has ended and she has to go back to a normal life.

I know this is a very pessimistic opinion, and I hope I'm wrong, but I dont feel she has the potential or is receiving the right training for a long lasting career.

There must be nmany a good chorister who is thinking "why her and not me".

The answer is she was in the right place at the right time, has had excellent marketing and exposure, and ...
well I think its the awwwwwwwwwww factor!!
