Advantages: Really different, rockabilly, roma ntic lyrics, catchy moody songs that you will soon fall in love with!

Disadvantages: He had a really cheesy xmas song album.

Chris Isaak began his musical career in a band called Silvertone. They were a rockabilly band featuring James Calvin Wilsey (guitar), Rowland Salley (bass), and Kenney Dale Johnson (on Drums). They later became the artists permanent supporting band. In fact Chris Isaaks first album was called Silvertone (1985). This album didnt do all that well, hardly selling at all.

A few years later he released the album simply titled Chris Isaak. Which didnt really do all that well either. Once realising that his music wasnt being received by a wider audience as he had hoped, Isaak branched out into film (some say this was his saviour). Blissfully goodlooking with distinctive features, Isaak did very well on screen and has starred in tons of movies. he took a bit part in Married to the Mob (1988), A Dirty Shame, Silence of the Lambs, Wild at Heart and his own sitcom series.

The well earned break from music seemed to do him some good because in 1989 Heart Shaped World was released. It initially sold more than Chris Isaak but really hit it big in the late 90s when 'Wicked Game' was used in the soundtrack of David Lynch's Wild at Heart. It quickly became a Top Ten hit and the album sold over a million copies.

Isaak went on to release many albums after this (including a cheesy Christmas one!) But Heart Shaped World is the album that defines him. I think its also his best known album.

His music is reverb-rockabilly country and western at its best. The steel guitar and melancholy moody lyrics are really reminscent of; old cowboy movies, Roy Orbisons Crying, dusky texan bars and definitely really David Lynch style kooky romantic.

He truly is a unique artist and if you haven't heard his music before I would definitely recommend you check him out!

Summary: Heart Shaped World is truly his best album. Brillaint artist come actor.
