Advantages: She can Sing brilliantly, Great evening
Disadvantages: Support Band
I write this after spending one FANTASTIC night in the company of Miss Aguilera and hundreds of excited fans. Yes, thats right, I was one of many who witnessed this spectacular performance of Christina (Xtina) in concert at Wembley on the 2nd of November. First off, I wish to dismiss the idea that all pop is appaling and its all sung in the presents of computer gadgetry while the artist just mouths the words, well NO! Ive never seen someone give it their all in a live performance and still sound good. This girls can sure sing! Anyway, to the evening in question. First off there's the supporting band, in this case it was Black Eyed Peas. Now, im sure that they are pretty good, but frankly I didn't go along to witness a punk rock show. They were too loud for any of their songs to be understood, in fact they all blended in together apart from their last song (Where is the Love?). However, they seemed to warm up the audience well after half hour of their apparent wailing. After them along came a half hour break....and then it began.... .....the lights dimmed, a roar erupted from the crowd as the different screens showed the beginning of her lastest Stripped album. 'Stripped part one' played out while imaged of Xtina tied to a chair were shown (inevitable wolf whistling from the men), she breaks free from the chair and the images fade. The first song begins to more eruptions from the crowds. Dirrty thumps out as Xtina emerges from behind a large curtain screen in a foray of pyrotechnics. The crowd jumps to it feet as she belts out this number one hit. As it finishes, a quick change and the next song begins with 'A Voice Within' (her next release off her album).'Get Mine, Get Yours' soon followed, again this song is sung with relish. Song after song is carried out with the same energy as the first with the very talanted dancers providing the necessary fills in between costume changes. 'Impossible <
br>< br>< br>< br>9; is sung while Xtina moves sexily on top of a grand piano while she is lit by a jazz like blue spot light giving a very moody feel to the atmosphere. 'Make over' is performed with her prop of a bit of wire mess fence making this song a very underground fell to it. 'Infactuation' is with the help of her dancers with a very Latino swing to the original tune, completed with salsa type dancing and ramba skirts which are in turn ripped off by the male dance partners leading to a very funny put down from Xtina to her partner. This is then followed by 'Cant Hold Us Down' and one of her latin songs. A quick costume change and more songs ensue. 'At Last' an Etta James song is given body and soul with Xtina's take on it in tribute to the person she admires. Oldes such as ' Genie in a Bottle' and 'What A Girls Wants' are quick to involve everyone into the sing along. 'Walk Away' is performed with a one male dancer. While Xtina moves across the stage he does an amazing dance that maybe some of the younger one's in the audience shouldn't of seen. It was red hot but got the mood of the song just right. 'Cruz' was sung during the evening in a little get together of her backing singers giving the song a very feel good vibe. Along came 'Fighter' after 'Stripped Part two', which really picked up the pace of the last two songs winding up the audience in to a frenzy. After this it all stopped. The audience screamed, yelled and stamped their feet for more and we wasn't dissapointed. Out came Xtina in the most clothes Ive every seen her wear, Plain jeans and a t-shirt with 'God see no colour' on it. She them began to sing in that sweet voice of her's. 'Beautiful'. Its only without the music can you reall appreciate the talents of this girls, even live after two hours of non stop preformance, her voice was true. After the fi
rst verse th e music kick ed in and sh e e ncouraged the audience to sing along. Building up in intensity the song moved everyone in the building, and then it ended with her beautifully pitched high note, siginaling the end of the night. She thanked the audience and left the stage, leaving us all on a great high. What a night, what a performance. Christina is currently at the end of the European tour and is in the last leg of her Uk tour ending in London. Seriously, if you can get tickets you should, but hurry they are selling out fast! Believe me, it will be the best night you've had in ages! A little info on wembley itself. wembley is pretty easy to get to either by rail, tube, car or bus. Parking is very expensive during concerts at about £10 so your better off getting the train or tube. Depending on the artist, programme booklets are sold during and before the show. The ones for Christina were £20! They also sell refreshments which are also extremely pricey with bottles of coke (750ml) at £3 each and pint of large at a £5. Needless to say your better off buying your own food outside the venue.
