... what was a very rare and special treat for me, going up to London to see a show. At school, in the sixth form, he was the heart-throb of the fattest boy in the class, who also turned out to be one of the cleverest, going on to get a PhD from Cambridge University. The rest of us preferred Slade and "Noddy" Holder, who was a dead-ringer for our form master, another Cambridge graduate, who inevitably became known as "Noddy" too. Around this time Cliff had his second crack at Eurovision with his "...more

Though never a Cliff fan, he has often been in the background of my life somewhere. When I was about six, my father recorded me on his Truvox reel-to-reel singing "Bachelor Boy" (I'm not though). How I wish I still had that tape, and the machine! Then there are the black and white memories of Cliff backed by The Shadows on TV programmes such as "Juke Box Jury", "Top of the Pops" or "Ready Steady Go!" Later I got to see Cliff for real in the Christmas panto at the London Palladium in 1960-something. It was Cinderella and Cliff was playing "Buttons". Although heavily over-amplified he was good and the only thing ...  Read the complete review

Little did Rodger and Dorothy Webb know when their son, Harry, was born on 14th October 1940, that he would become one of Great Britain's and the worlds favourite entertainers; truly a legend in his own lifetime! Harry Webb? who's he? you may well ask. Harry first started singing at 14, when he was given the part of Ratty in his school's production of "The wind in the Willows". He then formed a band with some school friends called the Quintones. At 16, his father bought him his first guitar and, after leaving school at 17 with one O-level, he started work as a clerk in an office by day, and played in youth clubs and pubs with the Dick ...  Read the complete review

I think Cliff Richard is a fantastic all round entertainer. A lot of people see him as a joke, and I thought it was really sad when most radio stations would not play his new record. What people seem to forget is that he is a fantastic singer and actor, and has had a long fruitful career. Cliff made films that were easy to watch, and films that people of that era could identify with, the films were really happy, like Summer Holiday. In his time Cliff was seen as a heartthrob. He must have made hundreds of records over the years, like Bachelor Boy, All On The Game, Christmas Time Mistletoe and Wine and Congratulations. My favourite is the one he ...  Read the complete review

I've heard many of his songs and although I'm not a big fan I admit they have catchy rythems and I can understand why other people like them. But It's not his music I'm going to voice my opinion on, it's more on Cliff himself. He may seem a nice guy but what about in person if any of you were to meet him? Well me and my family did one holiday in Portugal. As you may all know, Cliff has a villa in Portugal. We also had some frieds staying in a villa down the road and one of them was a big Cliff Richard fan so they had spent most of the day sitting outside his front gate to try and catch him and failed. So imagine our surprise apon bumping ...  Read the complete review

Cliff is that rare beast in popular music a singer who keeps going on and on and on and on. He appeals to an audience from 8 to 80 so the story goes. I for one do not understand the appeal. He has a sweet voice like many popular and unpopular singers. He performs some very well written and catchy tunes. When he went wired for sound there some who cried experimental. But really where Cliff or should I say Sir Cliff misses the mark for me is that he epitomises all that things that music should be putting away for good. He is Christian, I respect the depth of his faith, but why does that appear to the basis of his marketing push. His latter ...  Read the complete review
