Their earlier songs are more reminiscient of Black Metal, but as the albums progress they have more conceptual themes and ideas. Recently I've been listening to their newer albums such as Nymphetamine onwards. Nymphetamine is very good, although not as heavy as the earlier albums. Many fans find Thornography as the weakest album, but I think its OK, and th...more

Premium Review Cradle of Filth in general: A great black metal band (192 words)
by - written on 19/03/08 (Useful, 4 readings)
Rating:

Cradle of filth is a english black metal band, although black metal fans argue that they are no longer a part of the genre. I first got into them with thornography. I loved what i heard and when i got the chance to purchase 5 albums for £8 at a carboot sale i jumped at the chance. When i heard these albums i realised what people meant when they said they are no longer black metal. The sound is a lot rawer and it is a lot more like what you would expect from a black metal band. The music is great and i am very happy i bought the CDs. They are talented musicians and Dani's vocals are great, ranging from incredibly high to deep growls. The lyrics are great also ...  Read the complete review

Cradle of filth is now the most well know black metal band around, I first heard this band on the Radio One Rock Show, with the track ‘Lord Abortion’ off the album Midian then a little wile later on one of my Rock Sound CD’s, I found the track ‘Her Ghost in The fog’ which is also on Midian album- which I later bought. My first thoughts about cradle of filth were that it was just high voices and random guitar playing, then when I started to really listen to it I found that the music was a fantastic blend of guitar riffs, keyboards and very original lyrics. Now I think Cradle of Filth is definitely one of my favourite bands of all time. ...  Read the complete review

Cradle of Filth are undoubtedley one of the most successful British metal bands. Their mix of techincal guitar work, orchestral pompe and circumstance and the entwining and powerful lyrics make most of their songs epic. Cradle Of Filth is a black metal band -they have released 7 albums since 1994. I first heard Cradle Of Filth on MTV2 and liked it but did not follow it up then I heard ‘Her Ghost in the Fog’ on a Rock Sound CD, it was at that point I decided to go and perchance the latest album at the time which was Midian, which was released in 2000 and loved it, even thought the reviews for midian said that the album was maybe not as good as the earlier albums. So far in their career the band has released the following albums: The Principle of Evil made Flesh Vempire or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein Dusk And Her Embrace Cruelty And The Beast ...  Read the complete review
