If you read any of the popular rock/metal magazines, Defenestrations arrival cant have escaped your notice. A lot has been made of their front person, a certain Gen Tasker. She of the cute blonde and pink pig tails, the glitter and pretty dresses. A lot has been made of her slight chubbiness. A lot has also been made of her ferocious vocal style, and that is what really counts.

The group, hailing from Kettering, Northants, has only been together a couple of years, albeit in slightly different line ups. In the summer of 2001 they released their debut album entitled One Inch God, an album that showcases Gens vocal talent along side chugging riffs, and sludgey sounds. Guest Vocals come from John Loughlin from Raging Speedhorn, and Cliff Lambert, from fellow Kettering band Scurge.
Its hard to deny Miss Tasker steals the limelight to a certain extent no matter how unintentional it is. But she is backed up by a solid crew of young men. Jamie Thompsons guitar acrobatics on stage are certainly not trying to mask an inability to play his intrument with ease and extrordinary talent.Stacey Maher (Drums), Scott Warner(Bass) and Robert Reeves(Guitar) all help to add a textured and brutal element to the music.
Tour duties have included playing with Raging Speedhorn, Lostprophets, Napalm Death and more recently an appearance on the Reading bill.
A band so young and talented surely has a sparkling future ahead of them.
