On dooyooFR, I wrote on every item about my favorit group. I'll try to do the same on dooyooUK.

Since they began , the depeche mode have known a real evolution in their style. A very long way since 'dreaming of me', the fisrt single i bought (1981)

In the early 80's i was crazy about depeche mode. It was the beginning of electronic music. We saw a lot of group with synthesiser in the same time. Do you remeber alphaville ? But only a few ones survived and Depeche mode is one of them.

A unique music style and an evolution during 20 years. Darkness and coldness : this is depeche mode, and this is what i like!

They began with their first album 'speak & spell' (1981) , followed by 'a broken frame' (1982) and 'construction time again' (1983). But they really began to be known in 1984 with 'some great raward'. In this album we find people are people and master & servant. Do you remember those two titles ? It's a lot.. It?s a lot.. Master and servant. In this album, all the tracks worth to be heard ('stories of old' is a very good title). But we also remember older titles as 'just can?t get enough' and 'everything counts' (1981)

Those four albums were marked by electronic sounds and some iron sounds ( a lot in construction time again). This period was also marked by the departure of Vince clark (we found him later in Yazoo, human league and the assembly)

In 1985, the depeche mode produced 'the singles 81>85'. All the singles during this period. A similar version appeared: 'catching up with depeche mode'

1986 : 'black celebration'. A fabulous album. The depeche mode had greatly matured. Each new album is better. 1987: 'music for the masses' is a great album. I still remember all those titles i was listening during so much hours.. sacred, the things you said, behind the wheel.. It reminds me so much pleasan
t memories

But unfortunately, a few fans stopped to listen depeche mode. The evolution of their music wasn't appreciated by everybody. But I didn't stopped!!

1988 : a real happiness! 101 was the resume of their world tour. But this was a dangerous world tour. There were breathes about the end of depeche mode.

1989 Martin gore (the one who writes all the songs) tried to make an album. It was a real pleasure for me. In fact, martin is the one I prefer in depeche mode. In this album, there is the spirit of depeche mode, but only with one member. On the radio we could listened manner of speaking from this album.

1990: violator was born in a sea of pain. All is bad and difficult for the group.( see my opinion about this album)
1993: songs of faith and devotion. The best album they?ve done! My favorite one. If violator was marked by pain, darkness and coldness, it was nothing compared to this album. Is it the last album? Depeche mode is dead? No!
You can note that there was something new in this album: real instrument and female chorus.

We just have 4 years without nothing. During this time, alan wilder left the group (he arrived in the group in 1983).

But in 1997 ultra is a fabulous and special album. The style is different than the others albums. The depeche mode are comming back !

1998 the single 'only when i loose myself'. I think this title is sad but i like it to much !!

And can you guess what i bough on april (2001), the 24th ? Dream on, their last single, and on may, the 15th 'exciter' their last album. What a pleasure to discover new titles and to see that depeche mode are still alive and that?s not finished with them.

We can find a lot of other CD (unofficial) as conerts and different remixes.

If i well count : 1981>2002= 21 years ! 21 years spent to listen this music. I like it too much. Try to do the same !

What I notice, is that
my fovorite titles were rarely the singles of the group. Amazing?

Some CD you must have (concerts) : nimex98 (manchester in 1998), une nuit a la mode (milan 1990) & sounds of mode (remixes in 1998). It exist a lot of other ones.

I?d like to write so much about this group, but you must understand it's difficult for me in english.
