Advantages: Good range of country style pop ditties

Disadvantages: I must be turning funny to like country music

I started life (well adolescence) as a Metallica fan (from the first album mind) and have progressed through bands such as the Pixies, Green Day and the Smashing Pumpkins (to name only a few). So imagine my surprise to find that I like the Dixie Chicks.

It all happened during a recent trip to America. I tend to do quite a bit of driving and so tend to use the radio a lot. When you get out of the towns there is plenty of choice of radio stations so long as you like country. I heard a few of the Chick’s songs in this way and liked them. At first I though “ok, ideal setting for this sort of stuff, it will be alright when I get home, I’ll start hating it again”. But I have to admit that I downloaded a couple of tracks and still liked them! Now I have both albums and have “come out” and can announce to the world “I like the Dixie Chicks”.

They are good though, their lyrics are good and they are able to produce songs that are fairly varied within the Genre.

There is hope for me though. The song “Chain of Love” by Cley Walker, a country ditty, is the worst dribbley sputum of a song that I have ever heard, it’s even worse that “Teddy Bear”. Napster it and see if I’m wrong.
