Drum & Bass in general: ... there's drums. And there's bass. Lots of it. But I can't just say that, can I? I learnt percussion for four years so have a bit of a drum fetish, and a bit of bass is always a good thing, so you could say drum n bass combines these two things. But there is a lot more to the genre than that. To the untrained ear it may sound like a mass of noise but most drum n bass takes a fair few listens before you...

docus DJ Rap in general
... Rap was a fantastic jungle and break beat Dj about 5 or 6 years ago. She made a great compilation tape called DJ Rap: Journeys by DJ. Well worth a buy. I saw her live at a club once as well - nothing better than a fantastically good looking woman playing belting tracks while you dance your tits off, high as a milkman... those were the days. Now, being older, fatter and more married, that kind of shenanigans is well past me.Still like the music though. I think DJ Rap should have stucked to what she does best (playing tunes). Although she does have a nice voice. I thought it was very humble her calling her album 'learning curve' - altleast she realised it probab...

madeley Roni Size & Reprazent in general
... Academy, 7th June 2001 Eclectic style has always been a trademark of the Roni Size crew and that may be why the live gig presented a contradiction between live instruments and performance and the mixing desk mastery of the digital era. I couldn't quite make my mind up whether this was a Drum and Bass club night or a live performance. Size and the more recognisable faces of Reprazent (DJs Suv, Die and Krust) maintained a low profile allowing the Dynamic MC Dynamite to rule the stage. Something he did with great aplomb. The crowd at the gig kept the atmosphere electric and responded with vigour and much jumping to the cascade of hit drum and bass tu...

nicky_jalfrazee Krust in general
... think unfortunately Krust has been caught in the shadow of Roni Size, not that, thats a bad thing after all he is a member of Reprezent. I do feel though he deserves more recognition. You can bet your botom dollar its Krust behaind the harder edge tracks from both New fForms and In the Mode. His own new album is awesome, but people, don't expect it to be anything like the Roni Size and Reprezent stuff. When this guy makes his own music, he makes true dancefloor drum n bass. In no way is it designed for the masses. Anyone remember Warhead, a similar style applies, and perhaps one of the greatest tracks from last year Cloaking device. I remember playing that at...
