One of my favourite albums, though may not be to all tastes! Garbage got into the charts and got noticed by songs like "Stupid Girl", and although this is a great song, it is quite distinctly different to most of the others on the album. Deeply subversive, with some brilliant, dark songs like "Only happy when it rains" and "As heaven is wide" are almost on Par with the likes of earlier Placebo songs for the really bassy, powerful depression stuff. Not an album or group for the average teenybopper, but if you like your music with some guts, then sit back and become absorbed. ...

When I first got Garbage's album, I listened to it non-stop and it still holds truth today. It is a great listen and is cool for long journeys as it is quite a long CD to keep you entertained for miles. The songs are a cross between rock, pop and techno, with some pretty cool guitar riffs, a cool bumping keyboard and some really brill drum rhythms. The singing is cool too and the originality is groovy. You can tell when Garbage are playing because they tend to have their own unique sound, but I can't really explain it. You'll just have to listen for yourself. ...

Garbage - with their depressive songs you would think that they would have fallen into obscurity perhaps - quite the opposite! They are one of the best rated bands with a large fan base. Releasing hit singles such as Only Happy When It Rains, When I Grow Up and Milk, they have shot to the top end of the charts time and again. With two brilliant albums to their name - Garbage and Version 2.0 - and the brilliant vocals of Scottish-born Shirley Manson, they are well worth a listen to - even if it is not he sort of music you usually like, as there is such a diversity of style within the albums with some slow song and some fast and loud.
