Advantages: Hes gone
Disadvantages: Serving me in Burtons.
The cute little kid rode his stutter like a wave all the way to the final knowing that was his only real star quality. This time next year he will be working in Topman or a building society if he?s lucky as there aren?t many jobs in the media or life for people with his unfortunate handicap. His chats with the equally inane pop pickers of Ant and Dec may have won him the public sympathy, but sent chivers through his prospective record company for his radio interviews. Punters will soon tire of this away from the bubble of Pop Idol in this very fickle demographic. The young teenyboppers who saw him as the ideal boyfriend will forget the moment he?s not on the screens and drift of to follow yet another pointless boy band singing (I use that word lightly) the same songs. The judges in Simon Cowell and the bird who judged Popstars had a fifty- percent total stake in Will and it was know surprise the phone vote was allegedly fixed. Will will appeal to the pink pound CD buyers and the teen market with his clean cut looks and great voice. His choice or his record companies choice of songs could make or break him and you suspect that the judges who had such a stake in Young probably sabotaged the other ones to secure their investment. How can you run a show like this with two of the judges having a vested interest in the winner. Gareth is just not going to work outside of cozy living rooms full of dotting mums and camp gays. Wills appeal is even more transparent though and I suspect he may sink even quicker that Hearsay. What is interesting is that because the shows were a year apart you kind of get the feeling that the charts and industry can only support one of these acts at a time. Maybe Hearsay were ?retired?to make way for the new popstar on the block. That?s bad news for Mr Young who will be phased out come the next series that?s sure to come. Big Rick also knew that his size was his advantage for the firs
t time inn his life and used that with his superb voice to bounce his way into the top ten. But the vested interested judges knew he would be a gimmick only fit for a Christmas record and perhaps paid him off he pretended he had a cold. I also have my suspicions that Will could have been a ringer to insure everyone on the production company got a payday. O why do millions watch this dribble. Do we need to be told what?s good for us and have our popstars manufactured to suit our tastes. The real truth inn these shows is that they guarantee tons of money for the creators and ludicrous contracts for thew performers. Apparently he will only make 5\%of the total gross if his career lasts longer than a year. Oh this is supposed to be an opinion on Gareth. Well what is there to say but he?s a cute kid with an endearing handicap. And maybe that?s my point here that that?s all he will ever be now he?s ejected into the black void of failure from the bright light of fame. Famous for fithteen minutes could never be more apt.

markw-d - 04/03/02 Giggsy - You didn't have a good game yesterday did you?
It wasn't technically possible to rig the Idle Popstar result. See below.
If you wanted to do that, the easiest way would just be to make the result up, which they may well have done!
They could have done that quite easily, but I'm afraid you are barking up the wrong tree to follow the "engaged line conspiracy theory".
Ha ng on a sec though....this is DooYoo...we like conspiracy theories here don't we? |
