First let's get one thing straight. I am a Genesis fan. A huge Genesis fan. My username comes from the film 'Buster' with Phil Collins. I wouldn't bother filling the comments with jibes - I've heard the jokes and I know it's not cool to like such an 'old' band. ¬¬¬¬¬Who are they?¬¬¬¬¬ Genesis were formed in the mid to late 70's, and begun as two bands. 'Anon' (not 'The Anon' as some people insist) and 'Garden Wall' contained the two existing main members of the band - Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks. This is a compilation dating from 1973 to 1997. This features two Peter Gabriel sung tracks, including, the excellent "I know what I like in your wardrobe" I was too young when Gabriel was the singer, but good music has proven to stand the test of time. This is a very good compilation album with one dissapointing aspect. Tonight, tonight tonight is shortened. This is a common thing which happens on compilation albums. However I feel this is a track which loses appeal if it is cut. For my money, it is one of the best songs produced by Genesis and was dissapointed when this track was shortened. ... When I was a child, I was a great fan of Genesis, and of Phil Collins' solo stuff. Now, however, the music they make is not the sort I would choose to listen to - I kind of see it as Dad music. Nonetheless, I do have a soft spot for it, and I feel that while I can't really rate them highly, what music they made is entertaining, very professionally done, often catchy, has mature lyrical content, and importantly, seems to bring a lot of people pleasure. This is not my kind of music, but nor is it the sort of thing that I would like to remove from the music scene. For the audience it has, this is very likeable stuff. ...
