Happy Mondays almost made it to be the best band in the world!.
There is ample evidence to say that Happy Mondays were the greatest rock n roll band ever. Or at least they were pretty damn close. Happy Mondays led by former poet Shaun Ryder, formed in 1984, but were not recognised until later in 1990 when they came on the Manchester scene . Along with their huge success came along a huge amount of money, which the band promptly spent on drugs. The band could not concentrate on making music and finally split in 1993, leaving Shaun Ryder only one option, and that was to form another band. His newly formed band under the name Black Grape came on to the scene but did not make it big. Black Grape had an even greater propensity to party than the Mondays . For this reason alone Shaun Ryder deserves our respect. The happy Mondays do support acts now and few gigs every now and then. I went to see Oasis last October at The Reebok Stadium in Bolton and the Happy Mondays were their support band. I still believe they could have been the best band in the world.
