Advantages: Captures mood of TV show

Disadvantages: Easily forgettable

It seems a bit of a shame to put five obviously very talented young people in front of eleven million television viewers, promising that these five are going to radically alter our perspective on the music industry, only to write them off with a totally bland, unispiring first release.

Pure and simple could have been so much more, given the mass appeal of Popstars; the combined talents of Hear'Say and the quality of the writers and producers behind them. Instead the final product ends up sounding like a monotonous "Never-Ever" attempt. Add to this the rather insulting cover of "Bridge over Troubled Water" and the band have 'one hit wonder' written all over them.

Guaranteed to sell by the thousands, but then so is any other collection of manufactured pop puppets...
