Advantages: they're ok i suppose

I can't say that I'm a fan of manufactured bands per se, believing as I do, that bands should get to where they are on their own merits and not simply because their face has been seen more often than someone elses. With the amount of publicity that this band has had there is little wonder that they managed to make it to number one. I can't think of a single day which has gone past when I haven't had their rampant mediocrity slammed in front of my eyeballs on less than ten occasions. It is quite simply ridiculous. Now, this is not to say that all manufactured bands are bad. I personaly think , that no matter how much I may dislike both the principle and the musical style, both Boyzone and Westlife(and maybe some others but I refuse to degrade myself further) deserve all the accolades they get. They are superb bands, but it would be nice if we heard some original music from them once in a while rather than rehashes of oldies all the time. Hearsay do not even come close. They look bad, they sing bad, and in general they have the outward personas of anything BUT popstars. Couple this with the fact that their first song is atrocious and you have a recipe for disaster...unless you consider the hype. Naturally they have a number one, but no doubt there will be a popstars 2 before long and once the hype machine turns its gaze elsewhere this band will fade into obscurity as they do not have the talent to avoid this. As an experiment, the documentary etc. is superb, showing just how far the media can be amnipulated in order to brainwash the public into thinking they like something. Were it not for the television show, the constant repetition of the song etc. this band would not have even charted. They have a complete lack of charisma, mediocre voices(bar 2), look extremely wooden on stage and are quite simply far too ordinary to be anything more than a flash in the pan. Sorry guys, but I predict 2-3 hits and then obscurity - enjoy it while it lasts....
