Advantages: Great vocals, Music
Disadvantages: Maybe Not enough ballads
Jagged Edge are an American R&B group made up of Twin brothers Brian and Brandon Casey and Kyle Norman and Richard Wingo. They started in Atlanta, Georgia in 1997 aged in their early twenties They signed a deal with Columbia records. They were recommended to Jermaine Dupri by Kandi Burruss who had a few hits herself in the late nineties with Xscape.
In early 1998 they released their first album A Jagged Era with the massive single Gotta Be which was a song about a love triangle involving another man and a woman. This album went Gold platinum and they were one of the top new artists of the year quickly making a name for themselves in a sea of Male vocal groups of the time.
Since then they have released for more albums 2000's J.E. Heartbreak, 2001's Jagged Little Thrill, 2003's Hard and 2006's Jagged Edge. On these albums they have continued to have great ballads crossed with harder hip hop tracks with some guest appearances from the biggest names in urban music.
Twins Brian and Brandon Casey are the main songwriters in the group and have songwriting credits on nearly all of Jagged Edge's songs. They are also unsuprisingly the lead singers in the group but Richard Wingo and Kyle Norman do have their own lead parts in some Jagged Edge songs.
Brian and Brandon are certainly the best singers and both have a amazing expressive tone to their voices which makes the songs have a more intimate quality. Wingo's and Norman's vocals are harder and grittier but still have good expression.
They have so many great ballads like some of my favourites Gotta Be, He can't love you, Let's Get Married, Promise, Goodbye, Walked outta heaven And Season's change feat John Legend. And there are so many other great slow tracks they have done.
And they also show their versatility with their adeptness at uptempo cuts of R&B/Hip Hop like Where the party at, Saga continues, Cut somethin, Driving me to drink, Ghetto Guitar and Ass Hypnotic among others.

You will like them if
..............................
If you are a big fan of music from the likes of Dru Hill, Boyz II Men, Usher and such like then you should like Jagged Edge but even if you arent such a fan of these artists there still might be something about Jagged Edge that reels you in given that their name describes their music pretty well.
The Future
.................
What can you expect from future Jagged Edge? Well With the group in the studio now there should be a new Jagged Edge album set to come out sometime either near the end of the year or early 2008 but there are rumours that it could be ready as soon as late August.
They are only in their early to mid thirties so I can see them releasing many more albums and continuing to have success around the world and reaching new fans with their own blend of vocal harmonies fused with harder hip hop beats.
Summary: Great group.
