Jimmy Eat World have now got to be one of my favourite bands and it must be the case with more and more people now (which is good), and no wonder, with 3 albums released on major labels and one on indie as well as a split cd and a singles Cd, this band isn't just some pop-punk upstart. To describe the band in a genre setting is impossible, in fact in a video interview (on the bands latest cd bleed american-now self titled) when asked front man Jim just says "We're just a rock band" which is such a huge generalisation of their music. Jimmy Eat World are a brilliant band under the catagory of emo. This means kind of punk-rock music, maybe slow, with emotional and touching lyrics about true to life things, sometimes very personal. They set a very high standard for this as they are so talented and now new and upcoming bands like Taking Back Sunday (who rule by the way) and BrandNew (one of my favourite bands at the moment) have them as sort of role models. Jimmy Eat World the fastest rising and most loved emo band in the world today, just played a concert in my home town of Manchester, and guess who was there. Me. As you've probably realised this opinion is going to be about the concert, and not Jimmy Eat World in general. The concert took place on a cold and wet Sunday night, at one of the medium sized venues in Manchester, the Academy. I got there just in time to catch the beginning of the support acts set.
