At the time, it was "so-bad-it's-good" material back in 1989! In the late-80's the charts were stewed with increasingly simple, commercialised tunes. A majority of these tunes belonged to the "Stock Aitken & Waterman" record factory, or "Hit Factory", which featured many different rising or one-wonder music stars, singing along to somewhat similar tunes. It was known later, that one of the record producers of the company, Pete Waterman saying that it basically took 10-15 mins to develop success.
