Joan Baez has been part of my consciousness for my most of my life. Her music and her bell-clear voice catalogue many of the events and history of the time since the 60s when she, with Bob Dylan and many others, set the music to match the changing times (no pun intended). It's not just the more well-known songs, for example she sings (without words) a Villa-Lobos composition - Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 Aria - in a way that reminds you that the voice was the first instrument and, when used by an artist such as Baez, is the truest and most flexible.
