John Lennon was loved by millions of people, hated by millions more, and yet he was very important to both groups. He was a musician, an artist, a social philosopher, a political activist, a father, a lover, and a man. He was loved for his music, and his ability to take simple emotions and communicate them effectively to the world. He was an artist and his canvas was life. He explored it, observed it, and commented upon what he saw through his music and art. It seems ironic that a man who communicated the ravages and evils of war and the importance of love, was born in 1940, during a World War II air raid. As a child, he was raised by his aunt and uncle, as his ... Read the complete review

This is my opinion of the song 'Imagine' by John Lennon: - I honestly believe that Imagine by John Lennon is one of the best and most important songs ever written and performed, I'm sure many of you will agree with me about that. I'll tell you why: The song is emotional, and more importantly truthful. Although, perhaps it has shows of sadness I believe that the song is very encouraging because it makes you think. The song words, as you can probably tell are incredibly thought provoking. Read them out loud even sing them to yourself. I'm sure the song will strike a chord in you. ‘Imagine’ is a superb song - a ... Read the complete review

Why does the man who died so tragically twenty years ago still find a special place in peoples hearts? Why is it that a man who seemingly had no social skills, who had a biting sense of humour, and who, along with his wife, contributed heavily to the split up off the infamous Beatles grasp our devotion and inspire us? One of his friends said of John Lennon that he wasn't just about music, or being popular, but he was seen by many as a symbol for a New World; a better World. He dared to Imagine. Look what his Imagining did to the sixties!! But I believe it's time to finish what Lennon started. Not just by making music, not just by ... Read the complete review

I saw another review on Lennon and wanted to leave a comment on it. But, in light of the fact that my comment would probably only have been read by the review's originator, I decided to write my own opinion to redress the balance. First of all, was Lennon the genius behind the Beatles or was it McCartney? Read the other review and you will hear it must have been McCartney, because he has gone on to write 'Classical' albums, unlike Lennon who has only managed Imagine apparently. Well the fact is that McCartney does not compose. He sits down with a composer such as Carl Davies, who plays ideas at the piano, and says, "Would you like it to start ... Read the complete review

I was only one when news filtered through that john lennon had become a legend. I write this opinion as a 23 year old lover of everything lennonish. You really cannot complain about lennons influence on music. As a beatle he wrote about love and as a solo artist he sang about peace. There are over two hundred beatles songs and 17 went to number one and made about 25 albums (I am sorry I cant remember the exact number) As a solo artist he made over 100 songs and made 10 albums (again I own all the albums and cant remember the exact number) Two songs went to number one. Imagine in 1971 and again in 1980 after his death. He also had a ... Read the complete review
