Advantages: They rock!, They roll!, They screw!
Disadvantages: None, none, none
KISS have had a very long and illustrious career which should not be gone un-noted. From the early days of 'Wicked Lester' with Gene & Paul, right up to the Farewell Tour, the band have continued to set the standard to every other band on the face of the planet. To quote Gene "We want to show every new band exactly how the big boys do it!". 'Nuff said. With just over 30 albums in just under 30 years, second only to the Beatles in the number of gold records, over 70 million albums sold, endless tours in every country all around the world, a bigger list of merchandise than you can shake a very, very large stick at, KISS as we know them are calling it a day. From the original line up (from 1973 - 1980) of Gene $immons, Ace Frehley, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss, to (from 1980 - 1983) Gene, Paul, Ace and new drummer Eric Carr, to (from 1983 - 1984) Gene, Paul, Eric and new guitarist Vinnie Vincent, to (from 1984 - 1985) Gene, Paul, Eric and new guitarist Mark St. John to (from 1985 - 1991) Gene, Paul,Eric and new guitarist Bruce Kulick, to (from 1991 - 1996) Gene, Paul, Bruce and new drummer Eric Singer to (from 1996 - ?), full circle back to Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter. Their reasons for calling it a day? Age is the main thing. They're all in their 50's now and it's taking its toll, plus it's better to go out with a bang when you're at the top of your game and people want to see you live rather than waiting until no-one cares whether you split or not. When the magic finally does come to an end and KISS are no longer a touring or recording band, it will be a sad day, but there are so many things in the pipeline, that KISS will never be forgotten - the most imminent of which is a definitive KISS box set featuring a ton of unreleased stuff that no self-respecting KISS fan will be without. KISS - we love you.
