Everyone knows she can sing and write, but not many know of her true life story. Lauryn Hill was born in South Orange (New Jersey) on May 25th 1975. It was clear from day one that she was talented- constantly singing and dancing (according to her family & friends). She was clearly clever and bright, due to the fact that both her parents were teachers. In 1991, Lauryn somehow managed to gain a recurring role in the soap "As The World Turns". Lauryn Hill emerged in the 1990's as the most recognisable RnB singers, and one of the most successful black cross-over artistes ever. Her distinctive vocal style is matched by few of her contempories, and the combination of sweet singing and edgy rapping marks her out as having the potential for real longevity in the record industry.
