Lennon & McCartney

I'm sure anyone reading this will know a number of Lennon and McCartney compositions and most will be at the very least impressed by the quality. My reason for writing an opinion is something that fascinates me about the Beatles music (from 1962 and Love Me Do to 1970 and Let it Be) and that is the contrasting musical styles of the two writers. I think that sometimes McCartney's contribution is a little underrated due to Lennon's sheer force of personality that publicised his efforts and indeed the mystique that surrounds him since his death. Lennon and McCartney have written some of the best songs in history - period. I don`t think anyone in their right mind could possibly argue that point. Anyway, when you look at the huge number and range of songs written by this pair, you wonder how modern "song writers" have the gall to call themselves that. As well as being in one of the most popular bands in history, playing their own instruments, they wrote so many songs. It almost defies belief. After searching through the music category on Dooyoo, I chanced upon the songwriters section. At present, only six opinions have been written in this category, which is probably relatively new. However, I was amazed that no-one as yet, until now that is, has written about the songwriting talents of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The main difference that sets these two legends apart from some of their modern day equivalents is that they were part of the most popular band of the time, and perhaps all time, but they still managed to become prolific songwriters as well.
