I put off listening to Less Than Jake for quite a while, purely on account of a mate of mine liking them waaaay too much. You know, the type that doesn't take criticism of their tastes too well and on top of that, tries to force their tastes on other people. Grrr to him. Well anyway, eventually he finally got me to listen to an LTJ song ("My Very Own Flag" if you want to know), and you know the first thing that I did, about 10 seconds into the song was I laughed out loud. Not because I thought it was terrible, but I just wasn't expecting what was coming. LTJ are a ska band. Now to those who know what ska is, you're best to skip this bit. I ... Read the complete review

I would just like to start off my opinion by saying that anyone who does not like Less Than Jake needs their head seen too in big way!!quickly! The band from Gainsville, Florida formed way back in 1992 by singer Chris Demakes, bassist Shaun and drummer Vinnie and were actually one of the first bands to play in a punk/ska style. Shortly after the band first formed they decided to introduce a brass section to try and emphasise there ska style of music. This brass section was made up of Jessica on saxophone, Aaron on saxophone and Buddy on the trombone. It was about this time when the band decided to replace Bassit Shaun with Roger. The band ... The two-year-old "Hello Rockview" finally sees an official UK release, along with the even-older "Losing Streak" as a free bonus CD, and while fans of LTJ have probably already got both on import, this two-for-one price means that there's no excuse for newcomers to not pick it up, pick it up, pick it uuuuuuuup... Less Than Jake have a great history of brilliant ska-punk records behind them, and here is another one! Hello Rockview, the bands fifth album retains their catchy, happy sound and is filled with upbeat, fast and punchy songs, which are instantly likeable for example, 'History Of A Boring Town', and 'Help Save The Youth Of ... Less Than Jake are one of the best punk/ska bands around at the moment. They combine blistering trumpets to pure wizardry on guitars, fronted by a satanical (i'm only joking), a superb lead singer whose voice lingers on inside the head, wallowing about, pouncing again at any moment. The badn thoroughly impressed me on tur, what with the fire breathing and the general mayhem that occured within the crowd, this band are truly a sight to see. Whatever you do don't miss them next time they are in your neighborhood, and catch them quickly, tickets are hot. ... Read the complete review

Less than Jake (know as LTJ) are the pioneers of the PunkSka scene. They created almost all the good bands around like Reel big Fish, Millencolin and Catch 22. The band has huge amounts of hype around its name and it now becoming very widely know. They are in danger of becoming too big after moving to Fat Wreck. The band is basically guitars and horns blended together in a mix which will get anyone listening moving. The most famous CD is the Hello Rockview which has almost reached legendary status. I personally prefer Losing Steak. The album has some very good songs but the overall quality is not as good as Hello Rockview. If you are just starting liking the band ... Read the complete review
