... or trendy- well I think that's total rubbish. The music speaks for itself-they have never needed gimmicks. This tour I managed to get Mark Kings thumb tape at Liverpool which was fantastic. All in all a fantastic month. I can't say which is my favourite track I honestly love 99.9% of their output, but Lessons in love, Love Games, Heaven in my hands or Kansas City Milkman would be a great place to start. Do give them a try-who knows you may just like them...... See you on the next tour?? So why exactly do I love t...more

Level 42 are for me the greatest group in the entire history of the world. I may be a little bit biased but having followed them since 1983(first time I saw them) and having seen them 7 times in the last month (as far north as Liverpool and as far south as Brighton) I can only say they get better with every year. This years tour was fantastic. Loads of the "old stuff" mixed with never performed before stuff(which was as a result of a poll on the official L42 web site)hence the superb The Machine Stops. Classic. Everyone had a great time and the band (with the very welcome return of Mike Lindup) seemed really up for it. I think Level 42 are vastly ...  Read the complete review

Level 42 for me has to be one of the greatest bands to come out of the 80's. Having been through a couple of line up changes along the way, these guys never fail to hit the mark over the years. If you have never listened to their music before I would definately recommend their album "Level Best" as a good place to start. It includes most of their hit records including "Running in the family" and "Lessons in Love". For me though, I have a few favourite albums, these being "World machine", "Running in the family", and "Guaranteed". Having recently reformed with original keyboard player Mike Lindup, their latest ...  Read the complete review

Formed in 1980 Level 42 takes its name from the Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy... the answer to the world, the universe and everything is 42 or in this case Level 42. The original line up comprised 3 "corkers" or natives of the Isle of Wright, The Gould brothers, drummer Phil and guitarist Boon and band front man, bassist Mark King. The 3 had been playing together for some time when Phil introduced Mark to keyboard player Mike Lindup. A classically trained pianist, Mike had met Phil while studying at London's Guildhall School of music and soon discovered there mutual love of jazz greats such as Miles Davies. Thus Level 42 was born. ...  Read the complete review
