Saturday 27th September, 2008. There is a date that will ever stick in my mind. 20 years on from their humble beginnings, the Levellers give all their fans a storming set and a wonderful experience by playing the poshest of venues - The Royal Albert Hall. This show was the culmination of a series of shows throughout the summer that have been celebrating their 20th anniversary, and was a fantastic opportunity for myself and other scruffy hippy types to get drunk and enjoy the band we love in such a high quality location. The support act for tonight, Nick Harper, often leaves me feeling rather disappointed, so myself and many others made the decision to spend ... Read the complete review

In June, I went to see the Levellers in Thetford Forest. For anyone having to choose between an indoor and outdoor gig, I'd choose outdoor every time. As well as the usual complement of young crusties, there were small children in pushchairs, and pensioners with deckchairs! You get a much wider cross section of people outside, and there is loads more space. The Levellers were backed up by Blleding Hearts, and Headspace, both of whom were very acceptable, if not as good as the Levellers themselves. Levellers at the Guildford Civic Hall - 20th March 2001 The Levellers began life in early 1988, when bassist Jeremy Cunningham and drummer Charlie Heather teamed up with fiddler Jon Sevink and guitarist/singer Mark Chadwick, two regulars at their Brighton local, the Eagle. Charlie and ex-art student Jeremy were veterans of local indie band 'the Fence'. They have scored a couple of top ten hit singles but are more known for their political views than chart success. I must admit before I start this that I have seen the levellers before and I'm a big fan. The Levellers came on to rapturous applause at about 9:15pm and they did not ... Read the complete review

Well, in 1990, my pal at work had a ticket to go and see a newish band called the Levellers, (his girlfriend had just left him, ah). Being into Prince and George Benson at the time thought about a free concert and said 'yeh, why not?'. He lent me a few tapes of them and i thought they sounded quite raw, but interesting enough to go and watch. Well, watch i did, jump up and down like a madwoman i did, lost about 3lb in sweat and came out of the gig deaf! The next day, i went out and bought this album, and it didn't let me down, to say it changed my way of listening to music is just not enough. From looking like every other 22 ...
