... listening to her for about ten years now and whilst I do not see myself as a fan of folk I do have a fairly eclectic taste in music that takes in lots of different styles and tastes. Loreena McKennitt, a harpist, is Canadian and offers the listener a mixture of folk based on classic poems (The Lady of Shallot for example) and traditional songs of European origin along with songs and instrumentals which have a decidedly eastern sound to them (Marco Polo based on old Sufi tunes) and offer parallels to some Peter Gabriel?s work. ...
