 ... listening to her for about ten years now and whilst I do not see myself as a fan of folk I do have a fairly eclectic taste in music that takes in lots of different styles and tastes. http://www.quinlanroad.com/flash.html Depending where you look, Loreena McKennitt and her band have been described as either folk or Celtic Fusion (All Music Guide http://www.allmusic.com/), both labels are accurate but in my opinion fall short of conveying the rich Kaleidoscope of music that she performs. Loreena McKennitt, a harpist, is Canadian and offers the listener a mixture of folk based on classic poems (The Lady of Shallot for example) and traditional songs of European origin along with songs and instrumentals which have a decidedly eastern sound to them (Marco Polo based on old Sufi tunes) and offer parallels to some Peter Gabriel?s work. ...  Read the complete review
