The Manic Street Preachers - a Welsh band, now consisting of three members, who transcend many musical levels and tastes being popular as both a chart band (later days) and an "underground" band (early years). My muscial taste and music collection is eclectic but I err towards the punk/rock/indie side of music and the Manic Street Preachers are among my favourite bands and indeed fit all those categories! I remember seeing them way back in the late eighties/ early nineties before they had a recording contract, supporting other (now unknown or lesser known bands) at the Marquee in Soho, London. I remember not being overly impressed at the ... Read the complete review

Why do the Manics make me jump around, well, it's because they make me seethe with righteous fury. I cannot stand the fact that a band with a mediocre song writing talent at best is applauded by musos the world round and thus the Manics are vaunted as rock gods and amongst the best bands the UK has ever produced. Still I’ll stay true to my scientific nature and try and give you what amounts to an objective viewpoint on the band. I HATE THEM!!! Objective enough?? The Manics formed in 1991 in their hometown of Blackwood, Wales. The “Generation Terrorists” were very much molded on the late 70’s punk movement and to be honest if ... Read the complete review

The Manics are back and this time we have proof. Fresh from a rather bombastic appearance from fresh faced hippie rap group Outkast, I settled down in front of the box to watch the not-so-fresh faced trio from Wales, The Manic Street Preachers on Top of the Pops The band recently have done their album promoting in a rather unconventional (so typically Manics then....) way. It all started off at their ceremonious gig at the Karl Marx Theatre in no less than...Havana. The band is the first band to play there since US sanctions began and not surprisingly it was a resounding success. The gig, no doubt a political statement more than anything else supporting ... This Group are my 90's equivalent of U2. They have broken new ground in moving Rock Music forward. The excellent "Everything Must Go" CD including the awesome "A design for Life" track followed in 1998 by "This is my truth tellme yours" with hit after hit "the everlasting" , "if you tolerate this your children willbe next" and "tsunami" If you like Rock and you don't own these two CD's yet , get on the net and purchase immediately , you will not be disappointed , two 10 out of 10 CD's ... Perhaps the best band ever in my eyes. With them you get truth, honesty, politics, sex and damn right fitness. All thier albums make me break out in a sweat when i listen to them. The sheer genius of thier lyrics, the heavyness of thier seductive rock and the melancholic sound and nature of thier more slow songs and sounds. Every single band member, including Sean, are absoluty gorgeous. Richey has that dark messy hair with "rabbit in headlight eyes" and that perfectly formed mouth and perfect contours of his face. James has the best cheekbones ever and is fit whether thin or chunky, either way, he can seduce me behing the curtain of the tour bus anyday. Nicky ... Read the complete review
