Her performance on X Factor last weekend reminded me why I absolutely loathe this woman, although I'd be hard pressed to know where to start. Originally arriving in the UK charts nearly 20 years ago, Mariah Carey is apparently America's biggest selling female, and hasn't done too badly out of our pockets over here in the UK. Mariah Carey was born on the 27 March 1970, and by the age of 20, had already had her first single go into the top 10 promising us some top gospel style pop. Of course, the early start didn't last long, and before long she was competing with Whitney Houston on a series of over-emotive power ballads, the best of which was the stunning ... I tend to write mostly about music that I really enjoy. So I thought it was time I had a go at being objective about an artist whose music I really do not like (see, I’m trying hard, already – I almost wrote “I really cannot stand”!) Maria Carey... Yes I know she’s sold bucketloads of albums and singles, so lots of people must like her music. Funny how I don’t know a single person who owns a Maria Carey album. Maybe they do, they just won’t admit it, and hide them away from me when I visit... >>> The music <<< Carey started to make it internationally with the “Vision of love” single, ... OK, I'm biased, because I'm one of her biggest fans ever, but if you give Mariah a try you'll realise there's more than what the media portray. For a start as a person, from watching countless hours or interviews, reading countless magazine articles etc. I sincerely believe that Mariah Carey is a decent person who truly cares about her fans. You could say I'm delusional due to great admiration, but there you go. She tries to make music that brings benefit and positivity, enlightenment and happiness into people's lives, she truly believes what she is singing and genuinely has a desire for musical perfection and not just releasing what ... Mariah Carey was born on March 27, 1970, in Long Island, New York. Her name, Mariah, comes from a Native American language and means "the wind." She was named from the song "They Called The Wind Mariah" from the musical "Paint Your Wagon." She was the third and the last child in the family. Mariah's mother was a white Irish opera singer from Indiana and her father, Roy Carey, was a black Venezuelan aeronautical engineer. At the age of 2 Mariah first time showed her talent. When Patricia was rehearsing Verdi's Rigoletto, she missed a cue, and Mariah sang it perfectly from the right spot. Patricia was aware of Mariah's ... Read the complete review

I adored Mariah Carey during the first few years of her career. Her music was slightly poppy, a little dancey and MEANT something - Vision of Love and Dream Lover. Her first album was seamless and I listened to it over and again without getting bored as the songs were diverse. Nowadays, I think she's seriously lost it. Her ego is so humungous that she thinks she can get away with putting out albums full of PAP that all sound the same, all full of doleful, drivelly songs about exactly the same subject EVERY TIME!!! I'm sick to death of this woman, I mean it!! She no longer sings live as much as she used to as she spends more time on stage ... Read the complete review
