... than on the albums makes this a great supplement to Metallica collections and my personal favourite DVD is taken from the 1989 Damaged Justice tour: this is due to the larger amount of older material on this show, and the fact that it doesn’t end with ‘Enter Sandman’ like most of the CDs and the other show. It’s unclear whether there have been edits made as in many live albums in terms of gaps and conversation between songs, but James is very energetic and occasionally humorous in his crowd interaction. His voice neve...more

3 simple words will be my honest answer - Living My Dream! YES! I saw the band who have been with me for the past 13 years or so. Venue: Earls Court, London Time: About 8pm (ish) The night itself and other miscellaneous: Here goes. Now, As I mentioned above, I have lloved Metallica since I was a nipper (well - 14 or so) and seeing them was a genuine must-do-before-I-die thing for me. I loved their early stuff, have put up with their newer stuff and was hugely impressed with their S&M album with the San Francisco Symphony but until recently I had been unable to get tickets to any of their concerts. Things change, oh! How they ...  Read the complete review

This may upset the Metallica purists but bear with me! Last night I went to see a Metallica tribute band at a local club. They are called Moretallica (bit of a bad name I know!) and consist of 4 guys - 3 guitarists and a drummer. The gig was held in Glow 303 a small club in Aberdeen which has a capacity of about 250 downstairs where the stage is but has a much larger capacity upstairs but a really bad view! The support band were called Nothing Sacred and were okay I thought. Fairly bland MOR to my ears but some good guitar work. Once the support band had taken away their equipment (no roadies here) the suspense started to build for the main ...  Read the complete review

The Legend: There is a band from over the Atlantic that heralds the name of "Metallica". As many of you who have read my reviews on here will know, I am a bit of a fan, and have wanted to see them for a fair while now, so, as of 22/08/2003 that dream became a reality. At the Leeds Music Festival, after standing for most of the day through bands I wasn't all that fussed on, for example, good charlotte, and sum 41, I found myself waiting eagerly, for I knew that in roughly 2 hours, after another favourite band of mine, System Of A Down, had finished their set, that a chime would herald an arrival at that place. That chime, followed by the Ecstasy ...  Read the complete review

As the title suggests, this is not a wholly true account of what the category suggests; personal experience of a Metallica concert. There are several reasons why I did not attend the recent Download 2004 festival that saw one of the world’s biggest rock bands thrashing out primarily classic material a couple of weeks ago, although the fact that I didn’t know it was on is probably the primary reason. My friend went though. He knew. The bastard. As I write this review my ears are ringing following a local gig by Europe’s most popular Metallica tribute band, the very cleverly named ‘Mentallica.’ Me and my damn tribute bands; I still ...  Read the complete review

Every fan of metal should experience this band at least once in there lives. Even for the most hardcore fan or ahem..coal chamber fans this is not to be missed. I saw Metallica at last years Big Day Out with 2 of my friends ( see metal_is_nice) and we'd already had an amazing day before Metallica came on. Sepultura and pitchshifter were other notable highlights. Metallica came on just as the sun went down and wre greeted by 50,000 fans on a hillside and hundreds of mini (and not so mini) bonfires. All the classics were there from the newer tunes such as Fuel to the ealy stuff such as One and Master of Puppets. It was a great 2 hour set with all 4 members ...  Read the complete review
