Advantages: Tons of extras, excellent picture quality, and sound.
Disadvantages: £35! A bit pricey.....TOTALLY worth every penny though..he he he!
I bought this, which is the "Load" tour(Live from Fort Worth, Texas 9-10 th May, 1997.) originally on video, and though that I loved it, I played it to death, but then my fiance got it on DVD, and oh wow!! You haven't seen it till you've seen it on DVD! We have 5 surround sound speakers hooked up to our widescreen tv,it's in Dolby Digital 5.1, so you really get the full atmosphere of it all! It sound out of this world!!! And as for the picture?? You see things you never saw on the vid!! Well, as for the gig?? A lot better than S&M (Mind you, anything is in my book lol!) The DVD is jam packed with all sorts of goodies! You get 1,000 pictures of the band on the second disk, I've still not seen them all, you can select the camera angle on a few certain songs, ie, if your fave is Kirk (Like me!) You can watch him all the way through the gig :), there's over 140 minutes of the gig footage, lots of band interviews, a documentary, and behind the scenes footage, plus there are a few treats for those of you with access to a DVD rom drive on your PC. Also the menu is animated, but, beware, the music on the menu can get very repetive if you can't be bothered getting up, and changing the disc (Not that I'd know...!) Well....as for the gig itself....STUNNING! It really is! Its a good mixture of the old and new, Disk 1; --------- So What Creeping Death Sad But True Ain't My B***h (Camera angle selection on this one) Hero Of The Day King Nothing One Fuel Bass + guitar solo's Nothing Else Matters Until It Sleeps For Whom The Bell Tolls (Camera angle selection on this one too) Wherever I May Roam (Camera angle selection on this one too) Fade To Black Kill Em All/ Ride The Lightening Medley: Ride The Lightening No Remorse Hit The Lights The 4 Horsemen Seek & Destroy Fight Fire With Fire
r>Disk 2; ---------- Last Caress Master Of Puppets Enter Sandman Am I evil? Motorbreath So there you go, quite a good set list! I would recommend this to anyone, die hard Metallica fan, or someone who just likes the new stuff. One of the best music DVD's around, but, definately the best features on a music DVD, Metallica are setting the standard here!! I've played mine till it begged for mercy, and I'm still not sick of it! Love it!

- 22/07/01 Absolutely totally agree - Metallica are rare in understanding what DVD is for... and aside from the excellent music, this is an outstanding DVD.
I was put off by the price and it took a while before I bought it (£29 from MVC!) but all the extra's make it well worth the price. |
