Where do you start when writing an opinion about Michael Jackson? Well, you could start by talking about his many hit singles, and you could further that by talking about his range of successful albums. You could also start by talking about his love for extravagent music videos, and details about those. Some may like to hear all about Michaels amazing ability to dance. You might prefer to start with information about Michaels life story, or you could write about his short-lived movie carrer. Where am I going to start? The answer to that is i don't know, I'm just going to write what comes into my head, so here it goes...
Michael Jacksons has gained many nicknames over his long career, such as "wacko jacko", which I do not believe is a fair judgement. I much prefer "The King of Pop", which he has firmly established himself as, and may well stay the King of Pop for a long time yet.
More or less everything Michael Jackson has done has been plastered all over the papers and TV, and every little molehill has been made into a mountain, it seems he cannot do anything without being either praised or ridiculed. OK, no-one can say that he has led a normal life, but maybe such a big deal should have been made of the surgery, the chimp, or whatever else the media decides to cook up to make him look like a criminal.
Although the media have made life a little bit hard for Michael, he has still managed to make a huge success of his career. Starting off with his brothers as part of the Jacksons, Michael quickly made a name for himself, and after splitting to start his solo career, became just as successful. He released a string of albums, and some of the singles he has released from these stayed at number 1, both in the UK and the USA, for a considerably long time.
Hits such as "Ben", and "Off the Wall" started the ball rolling for the singer, and are some of his classics. Moving on in his career, and sev
eral nose jobs, face jobs etc. later, the new Michael Jackson released his first of three hugely successful albums. the first to come was "Thriller", which will not have passed anyone by. He drew a few hits from this album, such as "Thriller", which was accompanied by one of the best music videos ever, and I'm guessing that most people have seen it. If not, why not? The album also contained the huge hits, "Billie Jean", and "Beat it", which are simply unforgettable.
The next album to come was "Bad", which equalled the splendor and style of "Thriller", and contained a lot more hit singles than the Thriller album. "Bad" was the first single to come, and again was accompanied by one of the typical Michael Jackson style videos. This album seemed to be a lot more "groovy" as it were, whereas "Thriller" was more "funky". Forgive me if you think differently. This album also contained "Man in the Mirror" and "Smooth Criminal", which featured in Michael Jacksons feature length film, "Moonwalker". Smooth Criminal has recently been covered in a rock style by the "Alien Ant Farm", and I rate it just as highly as Michaels original version.
The third album in the string was "Dangerous", which came in 1991. It featured the hugely popular "Black or White", which featured world famous guitarist "Slash". It seemed to be an uncharacteristic Jackson track, and so did the album, which had a more rock feel, even though it still included the typical funky Jackson style. The album also featured "Remember the Time", "Heal The World" and "Dangerous", which were all big hits in their own right, but from this album it was "Black or White" which stole the show.
Later on, Michael Jackson released "Blood on the Dance Floor", and only released one sin
gle, which was the albums title track, "Blood on the Dance Floor". This album was not so well received by the public and the media, and it seemed to fail where other Jackson albums had conquered.
Now, Michael Jackson prepares to release his new album "Invincible", which is being greatly anticipated around the world. He has worked with some big name artists on the album tracks, such as Jay-Z and Santana. This latest album should be a good way to re-launch the career of a great artist, and if the first single from the album is anything to go by, it will be just as good as his classic stuff, and I am for one, going to buy it.
Now, what else can I say about the man that hasn't already been said. I've just given you a brief outline of everything he has done in this opinion. If I wanted to go further, I could end up writing his biography, which I expect has already been done, seeing as he is such a hugely famous celebrity, if not, I have no doubt that it will be done in the near future.
The bottom line is - Whatever the media speculate about Michael Jackson, he is still a great artist, and an excellent role model for anyone.
