Advantages: The Videos Are All Brilliant!
Disadvantages: None
People can criticise Michael Jackson about his way less than normal looks or his abnormal lifestyle, but they can't say anything harmful about his short films. Over the last 20 years, Jackson has created a new meaning to the words Music Video. Back in the 60's and 70's these videos were just simply clips of the arist or band performign live. Then there was a dramatic change in 1983. Jackson had previously made a few videos that were better than normal, but not much was said about them. Around the time "Thriller" (the album) was released, we were given the pleasure to view such asttonishing masterpieces such as Billie Jean, Beat It and the unforgettable Thriller. Billie Jean is like a short story about Michael being hassled by a journalist (little did he know this would be coming true soon enough). Beat It is all centered around Michael splitting up two dangerous gangs from hurting each other. And Thriller is a 15 minute film (actually released on video) based on the film "An American Werewolf In London". Hugely popular and unbeaten to this day. It didn't stop there though. Throughout the next 15 years, Michael continued to display an amazing collection of short films, the best being; Bad, Smooth Criminal, Black Or White, Scream, Earth Song and Ghosts.. Everything from deforestation to black panthers were in these gigantic films to occumpany the brilliant vocals. Michael has recently returned to the music industry after a 4 year break to release another ground breaking album. So far, the videos have been slightly less impressive than the older ones, but we haven't seen all yet...
