Advantages: great value for money, with excellant tracks.
Disadvantages: none.
I have been a great fan of Mike Olfield for eighteen years now,the highlight for me was being at His Discovery tour in Berlin back in the early eighties. Impressive wasnt the word,Mike and Maggie Riley gave a brilliant all around performance. Since that day I have bought all His albums except funnily enough Tubular Bells, never could take to that album, cant really explain why just I found it all sounded the same,to me it is boring. What I would like to recommend though is "The Complete Mike Oldfield" which consists of two discs. On Disc one.The instrumental section. "Arrival" taken from the Q.E.2 album. "William Tell overture" Olfields version is brilliant,a real foot tapper. "Cuckoo Song" A pretty chirpy tune that heightens as it goes on in true Oldfield style. "In Dulci Jubilo" Fast and catchy,A confession to make on this one....my children like holding my hands, while we dance around the room to it. "Portsmouth" This brings out the stick and broom handle to morris dance with. "Jungle Gardenia" Thank god for a slower pace I need it to take a breather.. "Guilty" The pace is quickening again to a lovely happy sounding tune.Although this is not one of my favourites but still ok. "Blue Peter" Needs no introduction except to say yes it is the theme tune to Blue Peter. Its got to be the best version ever. OH no more dancing to be done. This is a favourite of my children and always brings a smile to their faces. I must add that at this point,I am getting out of breath, you know all this dancing with the children.God I am not as young as I used to be and its showing..... "Waldberg (The Peak)" Another slower tune nice one though. "Wonderful Land" Taken from the Q.E.2 album. "Etude&quo
t; This is the theme tune from an excellant film,"The Killing Fields" Although its a lovely tune it does have a haunting feel to it. "The Vocal section" "Moonlight Shadow" With the vocals by Maggie Riley, who was just as good in concert.Taken from the album "Crises" "Family Man" Taken from the album "Five miles out". "Mistake" From the album "Five miles out". "Five miles out" from guess what album? "Crime of passion" Definately one of my favourites,a sad tale sung about here. "To France" From the "Discovery Album" Sung by Maggie beautifully.Lovely tune as well. "Shadow on the wall" Taken from the album "Crises" Disc Two.... The Complex section. "Excerpts from... "Ommadawn" "Tubular Bells" "Hergest Ridge" "Incantations"..Another excellant Album. "The Killing Fields". The live section. "Sheba" from Q.E.2 "Mirage" from Q.E.2 "Platinum" Yet another great Album. "Mount Tide" These titles are real live recordings. My over all opinion of this Album is if you like a variety of different music then buying this is a must. I bought mine five years ago for £18.99 but its great value when you consider the amount of tracks you are getting for your money. For Me it was well worth every penny. As you probably guessed My children love it too.
