Music……….I Got The Music In Me!……. It’s great on Dooyoo when you are not to sure what to write about next and then something just appears. Like last night when an opinion on Music in general by the lovely Pepperann was posted to the site and I thought “Thank you Jo, that’s my next opinion”. My taste in music is all over the place and I never listen to one type of music. In work I have a small cd player attached to my computer and tend to listen to a few albums every day as I download a lot of music. I didn’t lie about the fact that I am a big fan of Steps and when my boss was in my office last week he asked if that was my daughters cd I was listening to. I am never ashamed of my taste in music and would never hide who I listen to because it’s my personal taste and I wouldn’t change it for anyone. I love music and I find it helps get me through a tough or a boring day at the office. My job can be a bit boring and repetitive at times and a good album does help make it that much easier to get the day in. My favourite bands are R.e.m and Pink Floyd and my favourite solo artists are Robbie Williams and Phil Collins. I guess it’s all a matter of which mood you are in that day as to which type of music you listen to. Certainly never listen to The Smiths when you are feeling a bit down. On the other hand I have found that certain songs can lift me a bit if I am feeling a bit down. Pink Floyd and their “Shine on crazy Diamond” is my favourite single of all time, this hit will always put a smile on my face, perhaps because I regard myself as the crazy diamond. That song will be played at my funeral and you can trust me that the body in the box will have a grin as it is played….. It’s amazing also how you can be say in a shopping centre and a certain song is played from years ago and you can just recall in your
mind not only the words of the song but also what you were doing in that period of your life. At the weekend David Essex was on television singing “We going to make you a Star”, a song he released way back in 1975 I think. Anyway the minute he started singing it I could recall every word of the song and could recall vividly the night I got my ear pierced because of David Essex having his pierced..That’s the power of music. Some people are what I call music snobs, they think because they are into classical music that they have a better appreciation of music. I love some pieces of classical myself but I love some pop music just as much and it doesn’t make me a better person for liking the classical… I also enjoy finding a new band or artist that I like. A band that I have recently taken to are Matchbox Twenty. I find their music easy to listen to and most tracks on their album are good as well. New artists make the pop industry interesting as do new Dooyoo writers. I love the way artists just disappear for a few years and then make a comeback, and how some artists and bands either break up or just retire. It makes listening and following music interesting. I love music and I make a point of listening to as many new bands as I can. I guess I am a collector of mp3, and can never get enough of the stuff. At the end of the day music is something we all listen to, we all have different tastes in music and this is a good thing. Nothing brings the past back than a certain song and I am sure each and everyone of you has a song that either cuts you hard or makes you smile. Life would be dull without music and to end I would say I love all types of music for the exception of Country and Western, I hate that although if you like it you enjoy it… Hope you enjoyed the read, thank you Jo (Purple Hair!) for the idea and I will leave you on that note, as ever your friend online………..
