“Music Lesson today? Ugh how boring – it’s just a load of Mozart, Beethoven and a load of dodgy singers isn’t it? I mean come on – what does the teacher know about S Club and Backstreet Boys? I bet they don’t even know who they are. Yep, all we’ll be listening to is boring old Classical Music and then again maybe some horrid music that sounds all jumbled up by some old bloke called Struvinskee* or something! Ugh – how boring is this going to be? Oh I am jumping up and down in excitement!” Actually – learning music isn’t that boring (unless you have a boring teacher and don’t do all the fun ... Music... it's not all Mozart and Beethoven you know! Think of your everyday life. There's music on the radio while you're desperately trying to prise yourself out of bed, there may even be music when you're singing in the shower (this type of music may possibly not be all that tuneful but hey it's still there!), there's music on the television, there's music in shops and chances are there's gonna be that song in your head all day that no matter how hard you try, you just can't get rid of it!! Now try to imagine a world without music. It just can't be done. I realise that I'm pretty biased when it comes to talking about ... Read the complete review

Every child should be given the opportunity to have music lessons, whether privately or in school, or both. The benefits are enormous, the reasons are given below: From the age of 4 I had piano lessons. These formed the basis of my musical knowledge, and ensured that by the time I was 10 and my school was deciding who had a good ear and would probably be good at music, I could already read music and play piano a bit. After a short test, I was told I could have instrumental lessons at school and asked what I wanted to play. WOW! I immediately said - 'Harp, please'. However, the school did not have a harp, so I ended up playing the Double Bass ... Read the complete review

I myself, never cease to be amazed at how many private music teachers can charge such extortionate fees for their lessons. A typical half hour can cost anywhere from £15.00 to £25.00.depending on which area you live in. I myself teach classical and popular music,on Piano,Flute,Violin,Euphonium and most brass instruments to people in very low income brackets. I think music lessons should not be a luxury for the elite.I have many enquiries from rich parents, who want only for their childrens music lessons to be a status symbol to go along with the large house, luxury car and all the other window dressings of people who think that what they have in life ... Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was only eight years old when he composed his first symphony. Was Mozart a child prodigy? Of course! But Mozart's genius most likely flourished thanks to his father, a gifted teacher who nurtured his young son?s musical curiosity by making lessons challenging, yet fun. Learning any aspect of music is stimulating, rewarding and enriching, and not just for children, but for adults too. The site at http://www.musicschool.org.uk makes it easy for anyone to find a music tutor in his or her local area. All types of instrument (including voice) are covered, and all genres of music. Whether your looking for a learn to play classical ... Read the complete review
