Advantages: Access to music anytime you want

Disadvantages: Can take a while to download if have a crappy modem , Can easily have download failure

I am a former user of that infamous vehicle Napster, and can categorically state that although the MP3's were indeed free, so often was I coming across unknown bands and FAB pieces of music that I might never normally have stumbled across, that my bank account started to take a serious downward plunge towards that greatly feared 'red' area. I can honestly say that my CD collection increased by at least a third and now includes albums from bands such as Ani DiFranco, Shivaree and VAST (my personal favourite). These groups have yet to make any serious impact on the British charts and therefore not very likely to make any appearance on music programmes such as 'Top of the Pops'.

Without Napster my music collection would be bereft of these fantastic albums and significantly poorer as a result.

This isn't really long enough, people want entertaining and informing when they read reviews, I agree with the sentiments but an examination of the relative morality of free music woud have been nice. mpeh

I used to use Audiogalaxy but I stopped due to the number of tracks I downloaded that turned out to be completely different from what they were supposed to be. Live instead of Pearl Jam etc. :(

I would have given this a higher rating, but there wasn't really much discussion about the morals of not paying for music.
