Advantages: GREAT LIVE , good albums, brilliant

Disadvantages: don't tour enough in UK

To start off, i would just like to say how brilliant New Found Glory are generally. They have many cool songs, an amazing record label, young, great live and a range of merchandise and information available and a lot more things on their side that i can't think of but they just rule!!

NFG are a pop punk band from Coral Springs, Florida. They are Jordan Pundik as vocals, Steve Klein on guitar, Chad Gilbert also on guitar, Ian Grushka on bass and Cyrus Bolooki on drums. They started back in '97 wanting to creating music to reflect their feelings and attempting to make the defination of the catogry 'punk' wider. They did this by blending together equal parts of hardcore, emo, and rock to position themselves at the front of the next generation of music, pop punk. They released their first EP in 1997, titled All About The Girls and included the songs Shadow, My Solution, Scraped Knees, JB and Standstill. This was rereleased later on Fiddler Records by a friend of the band so it was more available to the fans. I think it's a good cd as I enjoyed all the songs, but the quality is a little worse than the newer material.

Their next release was in 1999, titled Nothing Gold Can Stay on Drive Thru Records and includes the songs hit or miss acoustic, it never snows in Florida, 3rd and long, you've got a friend in Pennsylvania, the blue stare, 2's and 3's, tell tale heart, winter of '95, passing time, broken sound, never sometimes and finally the goodbye song. I think this album is amazing!! deffinetly worth buying if you want to be a 'true fan' or whatever or just because all the songs on it are really good and show that this is a really cool band with a lot of potential for the future. The next release was an EP of cover version of movie themes,
including that thing you do, never ending story, i don't wanna miss a thing, the goonies "r" good enough, the glory of love, (everything i do) i do it for
you and last but not least, my heart will go on. In my opinion, they are all covered very well in a cool pop punk way and sound so you can recognise them but you can also see that they have changed them, for the better i think. Next came the selftitles album on MCA Records aswell as Drive Thru and the singles released from it were Hit Or Miss and Dressed To Kill, which had amazing and funny videos made for them, which are sometimes shown on music channels today. Other songs on this cd are better off dead, sincerily me, second to last, eyesore, vegas, sucker, black and blue, boy crazy, all about her, ballad for the lost romantics and the special edition cd includes the bonus track, so many ways. All the songs on this cd are tremendous, with an upbeat pop punk tune and fantastic vocals. "On the last record, all the songs were about girls. That's what I think we write the best," says Steve Klein, guitarist. "On this record, we try to kind of steer away from that a little bit...”Steve discussing the self-titled album. Their songs have changed to more about growing up and other matters away from girls but still include some songs about that topic.

Recently (in 2002), the new album, Sticks and Stones was released. It explores new ideas of music from the previous ones, and it includes the amazing My friends over you, which has a fantastic and catch tune and is what I think New Found Glory are all about: having fun. Their next single is Head on Collision, which is also catchy, but so are most of their songs. The Story so Far, it’s been a summer and Something I call personality (which includes bass from Mark Hoppus, Blink 182) are also brilliant, so buy it if you get the chance. Other great songs on that cd are understatement - the opening song on the album which is really cool, sonny, forgot my name, never give up, the great houdini, singled out and belated. They are all fabulous with really cool guitar riffs and some slow sections
in songs for effect. I love this cd and if you like NFG, this is an amazing buy for you.

I went to see them live in London at the Sheperds Bush Empire on the 11th September 2002, supported by Something Corporate - a fellow drive thru records band who are really good as they use a piano to add to the pop punk effect which just makes them sooo amazing, and the fight, now signed to fat wreck, fat Mike (nofx)'s record label. It was an amazing atmosphere, and when they eventually came on about 10 after tauntings of NFG, NFG, they were amazing! They opened with understatement, their newest single of the time and and played many of their brilliant songs, including a few cover versions and closed with dressed to kill. After more shouting, they returned to the stage for an encore, in which they played the story so far - a slower song, and they finished with a very energetic and amazing version of My Friends Over You. If was probably the best concert I have ever seen and I would deffinetly go again if they returned to the UK.

Overall, this band are just super!! I hope you liked my review.

I hear mixed things about this band, but I've heard enough here to rouse my interest. Useful op, cheers.
