Advantages: Good songs
Disadvantages: None
The first Oasis song that I had heard was What’s the Story (Morning Glory), and I was then instantly an Oasis fan. They have to be one of the, if not the best band in the world, with songs such as Live Forever, Wonderwall, Supersonic, any one who has heard these songs is sure to agree. But where did it all go wrong? Is it that their fame and money has made them give up on writing songs in the quality of their earlier work. I am not saying that they have got bad, but they definitely have got worse, but are still good. After the success of What’s the Story (Morning Glory) they released Be Here Now, which is good, but no where near the quality of their first two albums. And then Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, that is OK, but if I had heard it before I had bought it I just would not have bothered. But then, when their fans were starting to lose their faith, they went and released their recent live double album, Familiar to Millions, which, if you think that the classics like Live Forever were good, when performed live they are taken to another level of greatness. If I were to say that Oasis are past it, I would not be being truthful, I think that they have the ability to establish themselves as one world greatest once again, but they need to stop writing songs as if they were just to fill space on an album to get them more money. Noel needs to sit down for a few days, writing and perfecting songs that will challenge the likes of Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova as Oasis’ best.
