... something to them, unlike the many pop bands who sing about stuff they have probably never experienced. The whole music industry is becoming more and more commercial or as Chester Bennington from Linkin Park says "The music industry is the most backwards, blatant, unethical and immoral type of business I have ever seen." Kerrang July 20, 2002. Bands like Papa Roach care about the fans more than recors sales, platinum records or huge bank balances. ...more

WELL PEOPLE, THIS OPINION IS SURE TO BE ONE YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM ME. I MEAN PAPA ROACH IS ME, THEIR MUSIC FILLS MY SOUL WITH HARMONIC NOISES, WELL SWEET SOUNDS. PAPA ROACH MAY NOT BE YOU, THOUGH THEY ARE ME. So whats with all the ‘Papa Roach are the greatest’ well okay the Roach aren’t the greatest, they probably never will be and to be honest, I don’t ever expect them to surpass legends such as the Beatles. I like Papa Roach as their music likes me, by this I mean it lifts my mood, and sends signals around the house I’m still alive! OK SO WHO ARE PAPA ROACH? Papa Roach, are a nu-metal band. Ok so now you are ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Do I give them the benefit of the doubt? (471 words)

Papa Roach. The latest nu-metal band to grace these shores. They are as emotional as KoRn (well KoRn's first album anyway) and they are as heavy as some of the classics.....Sabbath....the likes. They don't claim, or try to be something they aren't. They do however, do whatever they do VERY well. Where many bands think that because they play nu-metal, they are instantly gods, Papa Roach don't. They have worked hard for where they are, and they aren't overly confident in themselves which is unusual. They play emotional songs, filled with lyrics that can reach out to the teenage generation. Songs like 'Broken Home', 'Last Resort' and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Papa Roach in general: The Evolution Of Nu-Metal (446 words)

Papa Roach - LoveHateTragedy The devolution and the resulting evolution of rap-metal has certainly separated the wheat from the chaff and its to Papa Roach's credit that they decided to leap before the whole genre collapsed under the weight of its own self-imposed clichés. Its easy to forget though that Papa Roach actually existed long before the terms rap-metal and Nu-Metal became popular and everyone in the know is fully aware of the pact between the Roach and Alien Ant Farm which existed way back in the day when both bands were struggling to find an audience. Then of course they released the "Infest" album and a synchronicity seemed to be ...  Read the complete review

The first time that I had heard this band was on a boring Sunday, so using my time constructively i was flicking through the music channels, and I came across one of the best songs that I had ever heard, this song was called 'Last Resort'. I'm not really into this type of music, but this song was just so good. And then, to my delight, one of my mates has their album 'Infest', so I?m currently borrowing it of him, and believe me, it is well worth buying. I know they have another album out, but I am not sure what that is called, but I can assure you, when I find out, it is mine. Their music is a kind of heavy/rap music, a bit like Limp Bizkit, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Papa Roach in general: Naff-metal: Papa Roach (426 words)

Okay kids, I first have to confess that I have seen Papa Roach twice. And, I own Infest, although I did drop it in the car park and it looks a little fractured. I heard Last Resort, like you do, at the beginning of the year. I went out and bought the album. Their tour more or less coincided with my birthday so I paid £10 for my ticket and trundled off to see them at Rock City, Nottingham. Now, I know I'm talking Papa Roach in general but some kind of reference must be made to them live, on their own tour. They were pants. For some unknown reason, the had (hed) p.e. supporting them, a band which I thought were more well known and, well, bigger than ...  Read the complete review
