Out There And Back (Paul Van Dyk in general)
Advantages: The kind of music that makes your weekend Disadvantages: Early albums a little Europop and repetitive
A couple of years ago there was an album that caught my attention, called Seven Ways. After buying ESCM by BT, i'd had a hard time finding another album that was intersting and in the same league as it. I deffinatly found it in Paul Van Dyk. As it turned out, Dyk and Transeau had done quite a few remixes together, something reflected on Dyks next release Vorsprung Dyk Technik, his 3 CD remix album that had no less than 4 remixes with BT on it. After waiting what seemed an age, Another Way came out on single, a deffinate rival to the massive For An Angel in 1998, and then his new album, Out There And Back. This was a huge leap from Seven Ways, it was deeper, more varied, and way more power. Pikes is the best intro track of any CD, a slightly better concept than Introjection on Dyk's first solo CD "45RPM". The Love From Above and Columbia are perfect songs, and if you buy the Special Edition double CD for a few quid more, you get the brilliant videos of Another Way and Tell Me Why (The Riddle), as well as one of the best tracks ever produced Namistai (co written with BT, and on his album Movement In Still Life) and many unreleased remixes.
