Advantages: Well written, honest, well produced

Disadvantages: Not long enough, hard to find

Paul Weller has been a mainstay of the music industry for the last 25 years. He started in the 70's with The Jam and then in the 80's went on to form the Style Council. In the 1990's he has made several successful solo albums, Wild Wood, Live Wood, Stanley Road, Heavy Soul, Heliocentric and a greatest hits album.

I am going to concentrate my review on my favourite Paul Weller album, Stanley Road. In my opinion its probably his best solo album, combining fast paced rock and roll songs like Gilded Splinters, Woodcutters Son and Stanley Road, as well as slower more soulful tracks such as Broken Stones, Whirlpools End and Wings of Speed.

This album is well written, honest and well produced. It isn't self-indulgent as maybe Heliocentric is and strikes the balance of good lyrics and good music very well.

I'd recommend this album to any one who has listened the Jam or the Style Council, as well as Oasis and Ocean Colour Scene (in which Paul has made guest appearances on their albums)

If you haven't heard any of the Jam or Style Council, give them a try too, you might like them
