The best band to emerge from the early 90s Seattle Scene (Pearl Jam in general)
Member Name: mrjoegoodwin
Advantages: The evolving sound on each album, storming live shows Disadvantages: A Spinal Tap esque approach to drummers Pearl Jam never seem to get the credit that their grunge rivals Nirvana and Soundgarden do, yet 18 years after the band's debut album 'Ten', they are still going strong, selling out arenas across the globe, headlining festivals and producing strong new albums. From the early 'grunge' sound of Ten and Vs, the band fought against Ticketmaster's monopoly on US concert venues and ticket prices, fighting to keep prices low for their fans wherever possible. Vitalogy, No Code and Yield were all great albums in their own right, before Binaural, Riot Act and 2006's Pearl Jam were released to middlin reviews from the media. It's the fans that make the band however, and particularly those who sign up to the Ten Club fan club, who are rewarded every year with great access to concert tickets, quarterly magazines and the annual Christmas single, which tends to arrive on vinyl in the spring time. Undderated in the UK, yet still popular enough to sell out the O2 and MEN Arena, 2 of the biggest indoor arenas in Europe. They might have had their heyday, but Pearl Jam remain at the top of the rock tree Summary: Should be bigger, but they've found their niche |
