... from the last album Meds, then followed with two other singles from Meds, 'Meds' and 'Because I Want You', all three of these were highly impressive performances. Highlight performances of the night for me were 'Soulmates' (a harder, more alternative version of 'Sleeping With Ghosts'), 'I Know' which gave a totally new spin on the song, Brian sung it so powerfully and it totally blew me away, 'Blind' because I find the chrous usually grates on me on the recorded version, but I could not pick one single fault with th...more

Premium Review Placebo - Live: Manchester Evening News Arena: 10th December, 2006 (374 words)
by - written on 16/02/08 (Very useful, 45 readings)
Rating:

I saw Placebo at the Manchester Evening News Arena on 10th December 2006 and they were fantastic. Whilst waiting to be let in by the awful security guards, I was surrounded by what seemed to be every single emo teenage girl from Manchester, with one chav girl who was intimidating and awful to anyone who dared get in the way of her and her future husband - LOL. The audience was made up of a whole array of people, with the first few rows made up of screaming teenage girls, desperate to catch Brian Molko's attention. Archie Bronson Outfit and the Howling Bells were the support bands and both were brilliant. However, the audience paid little ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Silver Rocket Fan Club Gig - Oxford Zodiac - July 20th 2000 (975 words)
by - written on 12/04/01 (Very useful, 710 readings)
Rating:

It was a warm summer's day, a light and refreshing breeze ran through the streets of Oxford, it sparkled with glitter, blown from the bodies of a large fairy-winged mob, which had mustered outside the Zodiac night club. Yes, you guessed it, later that very same evening this was to be the venue of the eagerly awaited Silver Rocket gig. At seven o'clock the doors were opened. The faithful fans were greeted with the videos to those great anthems - nancy boy and 36 degrees. Older hits were blasting out from all sides for about 30 minutes whilst the mob, who had travlled from as far as Japan and the USA, met, hugged, exchanged fluffy things and downed ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Placebo - Live: Placebo: Wembley Arena, December 9th 2006. (804 words)
by - written on 26/07/08 (Very useful, 68 readings)
Rating:

Placebo: Wembley Arena, December 9th 2006. Arriving at the arena at 7pm, security checked our tickets and we found our seats, and we had a rather decent view of the stage. The first support band to kick off the show at 7.30 were the Howling Bells, a female fronted band. This band didn't do much for me, although they weren't that bad. We got through 7 songs before they finally got off the stage, to make way for the final support band... This band were called the Archie Bronson Outfit, and I found this band to be really awful, all 7 or 8 songs were a total assault on the ears and I had to laugh when my friend who came with me to the event fell asleep ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Start again, start again!!! (2164 words)

Rating:

(Liz) Stuttgart, 4 p.m., the sun heats up the place in front of the "Congresscentrum B". It burns mercilessly on the black-dressed gothic-like people who are sitting in front of the hall. People's black hair must already boil with all this absorption of sunlight, but no one cares. People are smoking, eating tin food and especially preparing their minds to one thing: Placebo are going to rock this swabian metropolis in a few hours. My friend an me thus sat down on a small wall near the doors of the aforesaid hall. Honestly, I did feel queasy with my light blue sweater I was wearing over my black top and with my non black hair. Only my eye-make-up ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Placebo - Live: Placebo - Aberdeen Music Hall (320 words)
by - written on 19/10/00 (Very useful, 50 readings)
Rating:

Placebo - Aberdeen Music Hall - 16th October 2000 Outside the Music Hall there was a queue of over 2000 all waiting to see Placebo and their support Six by Seven. The best thing of all was that this gig seemed to appeal to all with ages ranging from 10 to 60 queueing outside. The support band weren't bad but not many had came to see them and their lead singers mic was turned up to high so you couldn't hear what he was singing - just the change of tone and him breathing. The seats I had in the balcony were terrible and I had to evade security to get into the crowd before Placebo started to play. If anyone reading this review ever goes to a gig ...  Read the complete review
